INCARDINATION INTO
THE UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH IN AMERICA

Candidates for the diaconate or priesthood seeking to enter or to transfer into the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in America from another jurisdiction and/or Christian community (e.g. Protestant, Episcopal Church, etc.) or those requesting additional information should contact:

In the United States for the Archdiocese of the United States:
Archbishop Ioan
vladykaioan@aol.com

In Ukraine for the Archdiocese of Ukraine:
Archbishop Vsevolod
vsvalentin@rambler.ru [in Ukrainian or Russian only, please]

For the Archdiocese of Ecuador, Central and South America:
Archbishop Chrysostomos
iglesiaortodoxa@gmail.com

For the Archdiocese of Canada:
Archbishop Andrei
andreibrennan@yahoo.ca

Those already ordained should attach the following documentation:
1. a letter officially petitioning for incardination into the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in America.

The following documentation must also to be attached:

1. notarized/certified copies of all ordination certificates;
2. a resume of all pastoral experience;
3. copies of all academic and theological/seminary transcripts;
4. a letter of release from one's former jurisdiction sent directly from one's former Ordinary to the Prime Bishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in America.

Once these documents have been received and reviewed, each candidate will be scheduled for an interview with the respective Archbishop/Bishop into whose Diocese one would be incardinated.

Those not ordained and who believe they are being called to the ministry:
A true desire to serve in the Church is given by the grace of God, and the Church supports and nurtures this call as much as is humanly possible. We advise such individuals to first make contact with the Bishops, Priests and Deacons living closest to them and to enter in a period of prayerful discernment. It is important to note that ordination to the Orders of Subdeacon, Deacon and/ or to the Priesthood, is at the discretion of the community, in accordance with the Canons of the Church.

For candidates seeking incardination into the Archdiocese of the United States, the Archdiocese of Ukraine, the Archdiocese of Russia and/or into the Archdiocese of Canada, a criminal background check is mandatory prior to formal incardination, and no exceptions may be made to this rule.

May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ guide and strengthen you. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us. All inquiries will be held in the strictest of confidence.
